Roadrunners are an interesting bird and can run up to 20 mph. They pair for life and defend a large territory together. The male will offer dead lizards and such as gifts to the females during courtship. We spend time in the Coachella Valley, a vast desert where Roadrunners can be seen frequently. I used to go to an Italian Restaurant in Palm Desert that had a Roadrunner knock on the class door everyday hoping for a bite of chicken.
